CWTP

A rectangular industrial building with a green roof, garage door, and small porch, set against a blue sky.

The Central Water Treatment Plant (CWTP), constructed in 1995, was originally designed to treat water from groundwater wells using a multi-media filtration system. The plant was updated/upgraded in 2022, and now has the treatment technology required to treat water from surface water and groundwater sources using coagulation, clarification and multi-media filtration systems. Chlorine is added for water disinfection, potassium permanganate is used for the oxidation of organics, iron and manganese, and sodium hydroxide is added for pH adjustment/corrosion control. The total plant capacity is 1.7 million gallons per day (MGD).
